They play vital role in giving you smooth and safe drive. It is very important to keep the wheels. In order to protect yourself from any kind of unfortunate situation, you should have close check on the condition of your wheels. To make sure the wheels you are looking at fit your car there are 3 measurements that you need to know 1 for your car and 2 for the wheels, these are the PCD, Offset and center bore all these thing are vital to which set of wheels you pick if they are wrong they will not fit on your car. The PCD is the amount of bolts/holes the wheels/car have x the distance each bolt/hole is away from each other for example if your car has 5 studs and they are 112mm away from one another measuring from one to the next one to it your PCD would be 5 x 112 simple really, the offset is a little more difficult the offset is the distance between the center line of the wheel and the plane of the hub mounting surface, it can be positive or negative pushing the wheel into the inside of the arch or away from the inside of the arch, to calculate the offset of a wheel you need to measure the overall width of the wheel (edge to edge) then divide that number by 2 this will give you the center line of the wheel then you need to measure from the mounting surface where the bolts go through form the back of this to the back edge of the wheel then you take this number and minus the center line this equals the offset, back spacing - center line = offset. The center bore is the easiest of all 3 to find out the CB is simply the radius of the middle of the wheel mounting hole and the radius of the spigot which your wheel will mount onto most after market wheels have a standard size CB they then supply you with spigot rings to match the CB on your particular vehicle. If you have modified or changed your car in any way which affects which wheels can be fitted you will need to take these things into consideration for example if you have lowered your car then you need to make sure the radius of the wheel will fit under your arches without rubbing you may need to roll the arches to get them to fit but even with this done with any extra weight you still might run the risk of rubbing this can be helped by using low profile tires this will reduce the overall radius of the wheels.
